Your garden is yours

Last updated 26 September 2026

This page explains, in plain language, what the City Farmers app and website collect, why, and who helps us process it. The app is in beta, so this page may change as it grows.

What we collect

  • Sign-in details: the mobile number or email you sign in with, and your name if your sign-in method provides it.
  • Your garden: the seed packets you add, sowing dates, where each plant grows, and which care tasks you mark as done.
  • Chats with the grow guide: your questions and the answers, and a small preview of any photo you send. The full-size photo is sent for processing but is not stored by us.
  • Feedback and early-access requests: whatever you type into those forms, including the contact details you give.
  • Reminders: if you turn them on, a notification address for your browser or phone so we can send them.
  • Technical logs: standard server logs (such as time, page and error information) kept by our hosting provider to keep the service running and secure.

Why we use it

  • To run the app: show your garden, work out each plant's growth stage, send reminders, and answer your questions.
  • To make the guides better. The team reviews questions that were marked not helpful or that the guides could not answer, so we can fix or extend them.
  • To keep the service secure and prevent abuse, for example by limiting how many questions one account can ask each day.

We do not sell your personal data.

Who helps us process it

  • Supabase stores accounts and garden data in a database that only you (and, where needed to run the service, our administrators) can access.
  • Vercel hosts the website and app.
  • Google (Gemini API) writes the AI answers. Your question, the relevant guide text and any photo you attach are sent to it. Depending on the terms for the service tier we use, content sent for processing may be used by Google to improve its products, so please do not include personal or sensitive information in questions or photos.
  • An SMS provider delivers one-time codes when you sign in with a mobile number.

These providers may process data in data centres outside India.

How long we keep it

We keep your data while your account is active. Removing a plant deletes it together with its chat and task history. To delete your whole account, contact us and we will remove it.

Your choices

  • Change or delete plants and their chats from inside the app.
  • Turn reminders on or off in your browser or phone settings.
  • Ask us to see, correct or delete the personal data we hold about you.

To do any of this, contact us.

Changes to this page

If we change how we handle data, we will update this page and the date at the top.
